Whether you’re a local student studying computer programming or a professional developer with 10+ years of experience under your belt, all are welcome to the first-ever Code:Buffalo, presented by Techstars, 43North, and the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus!

This weekend-long event from June 14-16 will challenge coders to use GraphQL to build an application (the exact project will be announced at the kickoff event), and the winning team will walk away with $10K and a mentorship package. There is also a 2nd place prize of $3K and third place prize of $1,500. You can form a team ahead of time or join one at the kickoff, but pre-registration by June 10th is required. You can RSVP at this link.

Aside from building a high-tech application (with a chance at walking away with $10K), there are lots of other benefits to attending Code:Buffalo!

Learn from experts in the dev community

In addition to the coding challenge, you’ll learn from industry experts – including the Co-Founder and CEO of Apollo GraphQL, Geoff Schmidt. And if you’ve never worked with GraphQL before, no worries! We’ll be hosting an intro session at the kickoff event to get you ready to go.

Grow your network

Looking for a new career opportunity? Just looking to meet more people with similar interests and skillsets? Code:Buffalo is going to be the perfect place to do both!

Network with representatives from Techstars, 43North, BNMC, Campus Labs, ACV Auctions, and several other startups about current job openings and other ways to get involved in the local tech community.

Learn new technologies and refine your skills

What better way to put your coding skills to the test than by competing to build an application in less than 48 hours? By working on a team, you’ll learn from one another and help each other improve your skills – making you more marketable for future job opportunities and keeping you engaged in the latest technologies.

Add value to your resume

No matter what stage of your career you’re in, it’s always nice to have new things to add to your resume. Including participation in the Code:Buffalo hackathon will show your commitment to continued learning in your field, as well as your ability to work effectively on a team with tight deadlines.
