Q: WILL THE COMPETITORS BE GIVEN A PROBLEM OR SET OF PROBLEMS TO SOLVE?

A: The competitors will be given the main problem and then stretch challenges. The project scope will be announced on Friday night during our happy hour and roundtable workshop with Geoff Schmidt, co-founder of Apollo GraphQL

Q: WILL IT BE LIMITED TO AN INDUSTRY?  

A: Not industry-specific, but you will be given a topic and a theme that you must follow on Friday evening at our opening event.

Q: CAN ANY TECHNOLOGY BE USED IN THE SOLUTION?

A: Yes, any technology that is able to read and write to GraphQL can be used.

Q: WILL THERE BE A LIMIT ON OFF-THE-SHELF PRODUCTS AS PIECES OF THE SOLUTION?

A: We will not be limiting shelf products.

Q: WILL THIS BE WEB-FOCUSED, DATA-FOCUSED, OR INTEGRATION FOCUSED?

A: This will be focused on integration between both web and data.

Q: WHAT WILL BE THE JUDGING CRITERIA?

A: We will be releasing this on the Friday evening for teams to use as a guideline. We will have main objectives that you will have to meet, along with challenges that will allow you to earn bonus points.

Some examples: Successful integration of GraphQL, number of platforms the app runs on, polished look and feel, break-ability, navigation, etc.

Q: ARE THERE LIMITS TO TEAM SIZE, MAKE-UP, OR AGE?

A: No limits on age, and you can form a team of 3-5 individuals or compete individually. If you do not have a team, we will add you to one based on your strengths and the strengths of teams that have signed up. We will have mentors floating around that will be able to give some guidance to less advanced programmers.

Q: THE EVENT DESCRIPTION MENTIONS LAPTOPS – ARE EXTERNAL MONITORS ALLOWED?

A: They are – we will be using classroom/auditorium space within the Jacobs School of Medicine on Main Street.

Q: WILL WIFI WILL BE PROVIDED?

A: Free WiFi will be provided.

Q: PARKING?

A: Friday/Sunday: You can park for free on Ellicott Street or pay for parking in the lot across from The Innovation Center on Ellicott Street.

Saturday: You can park for free on Main Street.
