Ok, now that that’s done, we’d like to shed some light on other local newsletters that are also covering the startup scene. If your interests lie in tech, healthcare, venture capital, or women and minority initiatives, these newsletters are a must!
In the heart of Buffalo’s entrepreneurial ecosystem is the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, home to the 43North/Z80 Labs incubator and some of Buffalo’s world-class medical institutions. There are always events happening around the campus that are open to the public and focused on health, wellness, and entrepreneurial-related interests.
InfoTech WNY covers a variety of industry-related topics, like attracting new businesses to Buffalo, workforce development, and networking. There are regular group meetings as well as an annual showcase called the BETAS, where local businesses and leaders are recognized for their work across several tech sectors.
The focus of Invest Buffalo Niagara is to grow Buffalo’s business community through job and wealth creation. They offer a variety of resources to employers about the local business climate, relocation assistance, and market research.
Launch NY has a monthly newsletter that features stories of local startups and events around the area that entrepreneurs and non-entrepreneurs alike can participate in. They recognize the importance of community-wide involvement in the startup movement, and make it incredibly accessible to people across WNY.
The National Association of Women Business Owners is a nationwide organization that focuses on expanding opportunities for women entrepreneurs. NAWBO’s local chapter has monthly #EmpowerYourself meetings, along with leadership summits and conferences interspersed throughout the year.
SCORE is a national organization that helps small businesses achieve their goals through mentorship and coaching. You can meet one-on-one with a volunteer or attend one of their workshops that are catered to a specific need you have or challenge you’re facing.
As part of the University at Buffalo School of Management, the Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership is developing our next generation of local entrepreneurs through its curriculum, events, and annual Henry A. Panasci Jr. Technology Entrepreneurship Competition.
Since its launch in 2010, Upstate Venture Connect (UVC) has focused on connecting high-growth businesses across Upstate New York with potential investors, employees, and customers. The UNY Pulse newsletter will keep you on top of local events, job openings, and notable accomplishments by startups in our community.
UpstartNY was created by Launch NY as a platform to cover stories of entrepreneurship and innovation around WNY. From tech to diversity to the arts and community engagement, they cover it all on their website and in their newsletter.
The WNY Venture Association brings investors and entrepreneurs together to identify funding opportunities and continue the growth of venture capital investment in the region. A subset of the WNY Venture Association is the Buffalo Angels, an exclusive group of local angel investors.
