Two local entrepreneurs have been named to this year’s Upstart 100 list, which honors the “most dynamic and creative people shaping business today.”

The list is compiled by the Upstart Business Journal, a publication under American City Business Journals, which also owns Buffalo Business First.

Today marks the release of 20 people from the list, representing its ‘”inventors.” Those include:

• Austin “Ace” Callwood, the CEO and co-founder of Painless1099, a startup company that came to Buffalo via Richmond this year after winning $500,000 in the 43North business plan contest. Painless — which is currently in the Barclays TechStars NYC accelerator program — has built a software platform that helps independent contractors manage and then pay their taxes.

• Daniel Hutchison, the founder and CTO of Post Process Technologies, which builds machines that clean parts after they’ve been through additive manufacturing. The company operates out of the Olmsted Center for Sight and is finalizing a $2 million seed round.

Both Painless1099 and Post Process Technologies are in the Start-Up NY tax breaks program.
